SMC - #1 Broken SHIELD

*Several cybernetic drones appear from nowhere and open fire on the SHIELD Helicarrier. The alarms scream through the corridors as all personnel attend to their stations. In the main control room, Nick Fury holds onto the main computer terminal and activates the automatic turret controls. The six Spider-Men enter the room and Peter activates the main view screen.*

Peter:

What the hell are they?

Nick Fury:

They're unmanned attack drones. They came out of nowhere. It's an ambush!

Peter:

I recognize them. They have a distinct flight path and design.

Nick Fury:

Damn it! the radio's dead. Miles! Ben! I need you on those turrets, Sonny, you get down to the engine room and see if we can keep this baby in the air, Peter, you go with him. Miguel, I'll need you on that navigation station and help me keep her steady.

*Miles and Ben assembled the forward canons and used their enhanced senses to lock on to the attack ships. They fired concentrated bursts, knocking several attack droids out of the sky. However the droids kept on advancing until Miguel spots their origin location.*

Miguel:

Oh my god!

Nick Fury:

What!?

Miguel:

You need to take a look at this. Look *Points to the screen* These bots are spawning from random portal doorways. And they appear to be opening at random intervals. This was a planned attack and only one man could have the potential to do something like this.

Nick Fury:

Victor Von Doom.

Ben:

Erm...guys. My turret has just fused. *begins to cough at the smoke that is now filling his station.*Miles is the only gunner left.

Miles:

The batteries are exhausted. My gun won't work either!

Nick Fury: 

*presses down on the radio* Peter, Sonny. We're dead in the water. Can you boost up our defensive shield?

Peter:

*On the radio* Aye laddie but I cannot change the laws of physics!

Sonny:

*On the radio* Dude no time for Star Trek jokes

Peter:

*On the radio* You're right I'm sorry. We can get our forward motors running though. Our shields will hold.

Nick Fury:

Good because I'm taking this hunk of junk out into the open water.

Miguel:

What?

Nick Fury:

You heard me. we can't let this effect the city below us. We don't want to rack up the casualty list. 

Miguel:

But we will never make it.

Nick Fury: 

Yes we will. Even if we make web sails and glide her down.

*In the engine room, sparks flew about the place and computer terminals burst into flames. The power was now out which left Peter and Sonny to use their own devices. They had to start up the turbines manually, using their webbing.*

Peter:

If we use our webbing and our strength, we can manually turn these turbines.

Sonny:

Yeah then we can activate the emergency power cells. They switch on when the generators fire up manually. 

Peter:

Okay. *Looks around* So where do we start?

Sonny:

*Heads for the first turbine* Get onto that computer and wait until the emergency icon flashes. 

*Peter stands by as Sonny heads into the turbine shaft and fires webbing at the fused motor controls. Sonny uses his spider strength to pull on the heave manual release switch. With one swift pull, the turbine begins to move, but only slightly. 

Sonny:

Damn! *Throws himself onto the turbine and pushes with his feet.* Move you son of a --

*The turbine begins to pick up speed and the emergency power flicks on. The computer comes online and Peter is able to access the systems. 

Peter:

Okay I'm in. Now what do I do?

Sonny:

Enter access code 3455-Z. It will override the emergency shut down and it'll get the engines moving.

*Peter enters the code and the roar of the engines come to life. Suddenly an explosion erupts from another computer. The force sends Sonny off balance and over the metal support railing. Peter rushes towards him as the Tech Wars Spider-Man hangs there over a huge drop.

Peter:

Take my hand! Quickly! *Reaches out to grab Sonny.* I got you.

*A few seconds later, Peter is able to get Sonny to safety. The radio the control room of there progress.*

Peter:

*On the radio* We're good to go. Let's get her out of here.

*****

Nick Fury:

Okay, Miguel. Let's do this. Steer towards the Ocean. 

Miguel:

Where shall I set her down?

Nick Fury:

Take out to sea at least a mile from Coney Island and keep her steady. The engines could go out again at any moment.

Miguel:

Oh I know what your trying to do now. We're going to play dead so those attack drones will think that they've won and will fly off.

Nick Fury:

O'Hara, you are a smart man.

*Miguel and Nick took the flaming helicarrier out towards the ocean at a very slow speed. The attack droids kept advancing, firing on other areas of the carrier. People were scared below as they looked up to see a smoldering wreck glide up above them. The Ocean was in clear sight. They were going make it. As they pass Coney Island and Brooklyn, Nick and Miguel switched to the emergency landing procedure.*

Nick Fury:

Everybody brace yourselves!

*Everyone took cover as the helicarrier smashed into the ocean waves. the water type doors sealed and the automatic ballast tanks turned themselves on. The helicarrier began to float. Nick looked at the screen to find that his plan had worked. The attack droids began to return to their multiple doorways.*

Nick Fury:

Is everybody alright?

Miles:

We're fine. Where's Peter and Sonny?

*Suddenly, Peter and Sonny entered the control room.*

Peter:

We have a problem. The impact, destroyed the computer and all the Portal doorways. We're trapped here.

Miguel:

That means our other heroes won't be able to get through.

Ben:

What are we going to do? We can't just stay here and repair the damage just like that?

Sonny:

Ben's right, we need to find the man responsible first and take him down so this can't ever happen again.

Nick Fury:

You're all right. I think it's time we re-assembled a group that wasn't destined to be seen again. 

Peter:

What?

Nick Fury:

I'm saying that from now on, The Spider-Man Corps is back in operation and your first suspect is Doctor Doom!
