Man Hunt


"This is media break. Give use three minutes and we'll give you the world. With Casey Wong and Jess Perkins."

Casey Wong:
"Breaking news in the endless man hunt for the renegade cyborg known as RoboCop. OCP's new Robo-Hunter division has upped the ante. Director of the unit, Charles Henderson had this to say."

Charles Henderson:
*Appears on the screen* "It has been a gruelling search operation since the death of the company's beloved chairman. We can now confirm that the search has taken us to the ruins of Old Detroit and have despatched our new line of Robo-Hunters into the ruins to find him. It's been three months now. RoboCop can't keep running forever."

Jess Perkins:
"In other news, Stark Concepts owner Tony Stark returned to his Delta City branch this morning. We interviewed him of the situation he had this to say.

Tony Stark:
*Appears on the screen* "I have currently been away on other pressing matters, but as soon as I heard about the Chairman's assassination, I had to investigate this matter. However I must set the record straight. RoboCop is not a defective product of Stark Concepts. He is part human and is capable of human abilities. He isn't driven to murder unless he was given probable cause. Now I'm not saying that OCP is to blame for their own Chairman's death, but I do believe that the Robo-Hunter division has gotten the wrong end of the stick. If they are willing to work with us then we will launch our own search and pull RoboCop off the street. That's all I got to say. Please...excuse me.

*A TV commercial appears.*

*At OCP's Robo-Hunter division, Charles Henderson enters the board members office and sits down at the conference table.*

Charles:
I'm sorry to keep you all waiting Gentlemen. The press have a habit of slowing you down.

Johnson (from the original trilogy):
Mr Henderson, your Robo-Hunters have scoured the streets of Old Detroit. They haven't picked up any trace of RoboCop. 

Charles:
Johnson, I never said that this was going to be an easy task. Old Detroit has nearly half the area coverage as Delta City. Our hunters have to navigate a now complex maze of destroyed and derelict homes, business and road ways. There plenty of space for a renegade cyborg to hide in. As soon as we pick up his ion-signature, we'll have him.

Board member: 
And what about Mister Stark? Do you agree to his proposal? He wants to help us?

Charles:
He wants to stand in our way. You have to remember, Stark Concepts was set up to oppose OCP not assist us. I'm not going to accept the help from a man who will only sabotage our operation. 

Johnson:
Sir, we need to assume the possibility that S.H.I.E.L.D and Stark Concepts will make an appearance in this search operation. We should expect confrontation.

Charles:
I'm already ahead of you, Johnson. I have programmed the Robo-Hunters to neutralise any unauthorised vehicle's and machines in the area. The hunt for RoboCop's shiny metal ass is on and I won't let anything stand in my way.

*****

*Meanwhile across the city...*

Tony:
Just how the hell did this happen!? I go away for one important mission and Murphy walks off like a Cowboy!

Rhodes:
Tony, he is a self aware machine! I couldn't just switch him off and give him a slap on the wrist. Besides the Chairman was an evil corrupt ass hole!

Natasha:
He's got a point there.

Tony:
Natasha, it's still murder! Now I've just got off the phone with Director Rogers. He says that Murphy can't join S.H.I.E.L.D until his name has been cleared. We can't find him. We don't know where he's gone! To add to the list of problems, OCP's boasting it's Robo-Hunter things. If we intervene, it'll cause chaos. 

Rhodes:
I'm guessing Henderson turned down your offer of assistance.

Tony:
Your damn right he did! He turned it down like that smug Daily Bugle editor would. 

Natasha:
Oh we're going after him. I don't give a crap about those Robo-Hunters. 

Tony:
Your not going without a tracker. 

Natasha:
Okay, you better suit up.

Tony:
I'm not going to do that. Iron Man would make the whole situation worse. What you need is a tracker who can work underneath the radar. 

Natasha:
I know just the guy. *Looks at Rhodes.* Get me Clint Barton.

*Hours later, Two figures jump across rooftops into the abandoned, suburban streets of Old Detroit. Black Widow steps into the moonlight alongside her friend and fellow Avenger, Clint Barton known as Hawkeye.*

Hawkeye:
This is Old Detroit? Sheesh, this place is a dump! I can see why you called me here.

Black Widow:
We need to find Murphy's faint Ion-Signature. You will be able to detect that right?

Hawkeye:
I can with this. *Holds up a portable tracer.* I had Banner assemble one for me before I left.

Black Widow:
Okay then lets move and watch out for the Robo-Hunters. There's no telling how many are down there.

*The pair move into the shady streets. All is quiet until...*

Robo-Hunter:
Identify yourself! You have entered a restricted zone. *shines a spotlight on the pair.*

Hawkeye:
Sorry, I forgot my ID card. *Fires an arrow and disables the hunter's systems.* Just like fighting Ultron all over again.

Black Widow:
Don't be so cocky.

*They return to the rooftops when they are confronted with two more Robo-Hunters. Hawkeye fires another volley of arrows, but they are forced to duck as the Robo-Hunters return fire. Black Widow vaults forward and lands on top of one of the hunters. She rips the hood off and pulls out it's circuits, disabling it's motors. Hawkeye aims at the remaining hunter and fires. He penetrates the hood and watches fizzle out of control.*

Hawkeye:
I think we're in the clear now.

Black Widow:
Good lets go.

*The pair silently walk down the main street. There are no Robo-Hunters in the vicinity which means that there is a good chance of being undetected.*

Hawkeye:
It's so hard to believe that this is the result of one greedy man's vision. Look at all these homeless people. What's going to happen to them?

Black Widow:
Did you ever do your research on this place? There's nothing for them here. OCP left them all homeless and hungry as Delta City was thrown on top of them. Murphy fought for these people once. He use to tell me stories of when he was just an average police officer.

Hawkeye:
Your not going all soft on me now are you, Natasha? You really have a soft spot for Murphy don't you?

Black Widow:
My job is to be bad ass and unstoppable, but I am allowed to have friends. Over time, I came to think of Murphy as one of them.

Hawkeye:
Fair enough. Where are we exactly?

Black Widow:
*Looking at an old street sign* "South Metro Way." Say wait a minute...Of course! Metro South! Come on lets go!

Hawkeye:
Wait! Where are we going!?

Black Widow:
Murphy told me a story once that he was first transferred to Metro South before he me moved onto Metro West and so on. He use to work with his old partner, John Cable there. If he's going based on memories, there's a chance he's hiding out there! 

Hawkeye:
*Looks at the transmitter* Well look at that. I got a fix! He around the corner! About 70 yards from our position.

*The two head towards the location. They stop in their tracks to find the old police precinct in question.*

Black Widow:
There it is. 

Hawkeye:
The signal is coming from inside.

Black Widow:
He's in there. Let's go. We don't want to startle him.

*Black Widow leads as she creeps around into the building with her twin pistols drawn. The place is dark, damp, and full of contaminants. After a search of the main entrance hall, they move on to the back rooms until Widow, spots a familiar figure lurking in the shadows. She switches on a flash light and finds him. He sits there alone in his chair. Afraid, cold, His face is covered in dirt and blood. His armour is dented and withered. His helmet is scarred and burnt.* 

Black Widow:
*Shocked by Murphy's appearance.* Oh my god! Hey Murphy. It's me? It's going to be alright.

RoboCop:
*Afraid* Please...go away...leave me alone.
